Peter Fishlock from Freestyle Signs painting murals at Eugowra, NSW

Who am I?
My name is Peter Fishlock, and I’ve been in the signwriting trade since I left high school at the age of 16 in 1985.
I learnt to paint signs the traditional way but also have the equipment to produce wide format digital printing and computer cut lettering.

Apprenticeship and Self Employment
I gained an apprenticeship 5 days after leaving school where I completed my 4 year trade qualifications at TAFE in signwriting which included post trade, where I received 2nd place in 2nd year and 2nd place in third year. I remained in the same workplace for a further four years until the closure of their workshop and redundancy. This forced me to make a life changing decision to start my own business which I did – Freestyle Signs and have been running it ever since.

Further Skills Acquired/Training
To practice up on old skills and learn new ones I attend workshop, seminars and events such as Airbrush workshops, Vinyl wrapping courses, Australian Letterheads which I will be co-hosting in 2017.

Volunteering
I also volunteer my time along with other signwriters and artists to two community groups : The Eugowra Mural Meets which have painted the little town of Eugowra for the past 6 years and also Portland Wallnuts (near Lithgow) painting murals and old advertising memorabilia signage.
